Documentary Wedding Photographer Kiain Balloch

Hi, I’m a wedding photographer working in Scotland and Northern England who tells stories through my photographs.

My approach and image style is very different to that of a traditional wedding photographer.

As a documentary wedding photographer I take photographs in a way that tells the true story of your wedding day.

By specialising in candid wedding photography I capture natural, unposed, moments. I won't impose myself on you and your guests.

To see some more of my work turn your sound up and press play on my short photo film below:

Documentary Wedding Photographer

My chosen style of photography has several different names including; candid wedding photography, wedding photojournalism, documentary wedding photography and reportage wedding photography.

My approach to wedding photography is discrete, informal, unposed and candid

My images tell the story of your wedding day as seen through the eyes of your guests.

I capture all the big and small moments, the emotions and events of your wedding day.

'Hey Kiain, thank you so much we love them. Those ones with us in the chairs! I'm already thinking about the bathroom ones!!! Honestly we're really pleased thank you again.'

Rachel and John

I aim to blend in, dress like a wedding guest and just get on with capturing images that tell the unique story of your wedding day with the minimum of intrusion or interruption. I want to be there to record the action, emotions and all the little moments that may otherwise go unnoticed.

I won’t impose myself on your wedding day or try to take control, I’m all about capturing the moments and events happening throughout your wedding day.

My albums are hand made in Scotland to the highest standards and designed to be passed down through the generations of your family.

If you’re not a fan of the idea of spending a long time away from your guests, and being posed and directed through a long list of static, formal, posed photographs then my approach may well be exactly what you’re looking for.

Both Elaine and I are so glad we chose you to photograph our wedding day. Everyone commented how lovely and, importantly, unobtrusive that you were, and it really made for great natural shots of the guests mingling with each other. The opening shot on the blog post is actually proudly on canvas in our bedroom. I can’t recommend you highly enough, and I’ve been passing your name on to anyone that I can!

I'm based in Blantyre, South Lanarkshire, near Glasgow, Scotland.
